Kohlrabi White Vienna
Nice variety, very fine and very early. It is distinguished at first sight from the ordinary white kohlrabi by the small number and the smallness of its leaves, which hardly exceed 0.20 or 0.25 m in length, while the size of the petiole does not exceed that of a goose feather. The formation of the ball is also much faster in this variety, which can be consumed two and a half or three months after sowing. This very old variety is mentioned in the book “Les Plantes Potagères” by Vilmorin-Andrieux from 1849.

Sow under cover, in plates or in pots. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. It is possible to transplant for the first time in the nursery when the plants have 2 at 3 leaves, all 10 cm, so that the roots take “hairy” before being put in place. Prick out when the seedlings have 4 to 5 leaves, every 30 cm on rows spaced 40 cm, without burying the stem too much. For sowing in the ground, sow clearly, in lines spaced 40 cm apart. Lighten to 30 cm on the row when the plants have 4 to 5 leaves.
